These days, the world is facing an armageddon that is the Corona or Corvid-19 virus.
Probably not the most ideal inaugural article for a platform of positivity – but as a restaurateur, my heart breaks for the tens of thousands, if not the hundreds of thousands of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs and businesses globally that are forced to suspend operations to withstand the pandemic.

Some would remark that this is a form of “natural selection” to weed out ailing businesses into permanent closure. The severity is real, reservation cancellations are at its most severe. Talents are retrenched. Local industries collapse. Pandemic or not, the restaurant business is tough as it already is.

Working in hospitality is a labour of love: it is a selfless investment over long hours, whereby handwork is fuelled by our passion in providing all with a unique dining experience. Our objective is to make people happy. We wore a tireless smile even when we hit the wall. Very little is presumed that behind the scene, we manage a delicate supply chain of maintaining excellent produce, supplies, recipes, service levels, costs, human resources, marketing, vendors, government authorities, and the deliverables are seemingly endless. All the painstaking effort to place food on the table, literally.

As HAPA Wow’s Dining Ambassador, I am proud to shed light that even during these times of social adversity – the consumption of food is still essential to our physical survival and therefore celebrations should still continue. Look at the amazing display of talents by our lovely Malaysians in their home kitchen, on the art of culinary across many social media platforms such as Youtube and Facebook. Food unite us all and gave us comfort in trying times. While we execute the necessary health precautions, I urge all to please support local businesses be it via food delivery, take-aways or private culinary events. Do not spread fear. We are united as a nation of great food, hence it is futile to quarantine our appetite. Continue the joy of eating in support of our ecosystem, with positivity 🙂
Lots of Gastronomical Love,
Lyn Siew – HAPAWOW Dining Ambassador
